VeriSign Managed Security Services (MSS) allows you to outsource information security
VeriSign Managed Security Services (MSS) are a suite of services that allow organisations to outsource components of their information security program. Today these services include Firewall Management & Monitoring, Intrusion Detection & Prevention, Log Management, Vulnerability Management and Security Risk Profiling. These services are provided remotely from VeriSign Security Operations Centers (SOCs) that are staffed 24X7 by security experts. Customers interact directly with SOC staff when requesting configuration changes on their devices (e.g. firewall rule changes), when VeriSign identifies health problems with the customer devices VeriSign is monitoring, and when VeriSign identifies security issues in the customer’s environment.
The services leverage a proprietary architecture, TeraGuard, which consists of a collection of commercial, open-source and custom applications. In the majority of cases, to deliver the services a VeriSign-owned device, the Security Defense Appliance (SDA) is placed on the customer premise. The SDA is utilized to communicate with components in the architecture that VeriSign is managing and/or monitoring. VeriSign retains ownership of the SDA and does not charge customers for this device. VeriSign provides all customers with access to a web interface (the VeriSign Enterprise Security Portal) that provides reporting, analysis, and ticket creation functionality for customers.
