System migrations can be a real headache, but migrating to Windows 7 doesn’t need to be difficult

With over 10 years of migration success, Symantec and Altiris combined have migrated almost 300 million client systems. In place migrations are a snap with Symantec. This technology provides the same capabilities and level of support when migrating from Windows XP/Vista to Windows 7.

Microsoft’s migration tools are unable to provide the same level of support when migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 versus Windows Vista to Windows 7.

What Lance says...

Lance Ulanof raises an interesting point in his article “Windows XP to Windows 7: It's Going to Be a Bumpy Ride,”

“Just so you know, "…replace your current operating system…" means starting over. You'll lose settings and will need to back up all your files to storage outside that XP system. All your apps will need to be reinstalled, as well. And you may have to manage some of the hardware driver updates, too. Microsoft also is not promising that all your XP apps will work with Win 7..."
